Sling TV launches multi-stream beta package complete with Fox networks

Sling TV is finally addressing one of the biggest complaints I’ve had with the service since the very beginning. I’m of course referring to its single-stream limitation in which only one device can use the service at any given time.

Currently in beta, the new multi-stream service lets users stream from up to three devices simultaneously. Rather than add multi-streaming capabilities to its $20 Best of Live TV base package, the company has taken the unusual approach of launching it as an entirely separate package with a mix of new and existing channels.

The multi-stream beta core package consists of Fox, Fox Sports, Fox Sports 1, FX and National Geographic Channel – all of which are new to Sling TV. What’s more, subscribers will have access to the Fox Regional Sports Network based on their ZIP code. The 30-channel bundle also includes favorites like Tru TV, AMC, HGTV, TBS and A&E, just to name a few.

Interestingly enough, the multi-stream beta package doesn’t include any ESPN / Disney channels which I suspect has a lot to do with the creation of a new beta program rather than rolling out multi-stream and new Fox channels to the standard core package. I’ve reached out to Sling TV on the matter and will post an update when I hear back.

It’s worth pointing out that subscribers to the new multi-stream package can also sign up for select add-on packages although again, sports from ESPN and other Disney content aren’t available.
