Tesla Model S Software Update Increases Personalization
-With the latest software update (Software v6.0) for the Tesla Model S, the fully electric sedan allows for more owner personalization -- and some of those upgrades will happen automatically like the Traffic-Based Navigation and Commute Advice features.
Although still in BETA mode, the update for the Traffic-Based Navigation system now calculates destination arrival time for suggested routes based on real-time traffic. The system will also give updates based on changing traffic conditions as well as feedback from other Tesla Model S models. Additionally, Commute Advice will alert the driver to any traffic issues before they start their daily commute. This feature learns the driver’s daily driving route. With the Location-Based Air Suspension feature, Tesla Model S models with the adjustable-height air suspension feature will remember locations where drivers habitually raised the suspension and do it automatically in those spots. The feature is useful for steep driveways and speed bumps.
The new Calendar (BETA) software update will sync the driver’s smartphone calendar and automatically input the appointment address into the navigation system. Route directions pop up by tapping the calendar event. Remote Start is another feature integrated into a smartphone. Tesla owners can start their car via a smartphone app if they forget their key.
Other new features include a Name Your Car feature that will display the owner’s nickname for their Model S on the Tesla mobile app and the "About Your Tesla" section of the center stack touchscreen. Lastly, a Power Management Option will automatically put the vehicle in energy saving mode at night.
